Litchfield Culture

Litchfield is steeped in history and is home to many museums including the Odamogan Living History Museum that is dedicated to educating students and the public about the Abenaki way of life. The town also hosts annual 4th of July fireworks. The fire department puts on a car show every year. The Litchfield Fair includes agriculture exhibits, animal pulling, a large midway, and much more. The annual fishing derby is also popular amongst residents.

Food & Drink

The Litchfield Country Store is a favorite among locals. Their menu includes pizza, hot sandwiches, and sides.

Tacoma Lakes Take Out is a seasonal drive-in restaurant, serving fried food, burgers, and lobster rolls, located next to the Litchfield Post Office.


Litchfield has many hiking trails, including trails running through Smithfield Plantation. Smithfield Plantation is also home to a natural amphitheatre. The Meadows Golf Club, an 18-hole course, is also located in town.

Schools & Community

Children in Litchfield attend Regional School Unit 4, which also includes students from neighboring Sabattus and Wales.
