Gorham is a rural, up and coming, family friendly town located about 20 minutes west of Portland. This charming small town is close to all the great things Maine has to offer. The ocean is about 20 minutes away from some of the best sandy beaches in the country. Gorham is one of those towns where you truly feel like everyone knows your name.
Saturdays, from 8:30 am to 12:30pm is the Gorham Farmer’s Market on South Street from May until October. Tables and booths are set up and farmers and craftsmen sell their products and goods.
Gorham Days typically takes place around the 4th of July and includes a carnival setup behind one of the elementary schools. There is lots of live music, games, rides, and evening fireworks.
The University of Southern Maine offers an amazing opportunity to see great sporting events, and has an amazing fieldhouse for residents to use on a membership basis.
Sebago Brewing, located on Elm Street, has a great brewpub atmosphere, inexpensive food, and great beer.
Gorham House of Pizza (GHOP) has a family friendly atmosphere, is known as the gathering spot for teams and families after sporting events.
Ocean Gardens is a favorite of the older crowd, offering great food for inexpensive prices.
The Gorham Country Club is a great place to do some golfing, offering 18 holes at a reasonable price. Shaw Park in the White Rock part of Gorham offers canoe and kayak rentals on the gorgeous Presumpscot River; which is filled with wildlife and has plenty of fish for the fisherman. Bald Eagle sightings are common here. The University of Southern Maine also offers a great fitness facility. Shawnee Peak is only 4 minutes if you are looking for great skiing. Sebago Lake State Park is a mere 30 minutes away. If you are looking for a short hike with amazing views, try Douglas Mountain in Sebago.
Gorham was the number one town as far as population growth in 2015, and their school department is a large reason for the growth, known for their exceptional teachers and caring staff.
The University of Southern Maine is also located in Gorham.
