Falmouth is a lovely, suburban waterfront community, just north of Portland. Many residents choose to live in Falmouth because of its excellent public school system, close proximity to cities like Portland and Augusta, and its beautiful residential neighborhoods.

Falmouth has a population of about 12,000 annual residents; although, it is busiest in the summer due to the passionate boating/sailing culture here.

The culture in Falmouth centers around its amazing oceanfront location. Residents and visitors of this town are united by their common love for the ocean and the numerous activities that go along with it, like sailing, fishing, and surfing.

The Summer Concert Series held in Falmouth Village Park features local musicians on Fridays in July and August. The brand new Flagship Cinema in Falmouth Plaza is the best, most comfortable place around to catch a movie.

Food & Drink

There are several excellent restaurants in Falmouth, including the Dockside Grill, which offers delicious food and harbor-front seating. Orchid Thai is a great spot for modern Thai food with an emphasis on fresh seafood and fun drinks.



Falmouth has three beautiful private golf clubs: The Woodlands, Falmouth Country Club, and Portland Country Club. There are several public courses nearby as well, including Riverside Golf Course in Portsmouth and Sunset Ridge in Westbrook.

Boating & Sailing

The Falmouth is one of Maine’s premiere centers for sailing and boating. The Portland Yacht Club is located here, as is the Falmouth Yacht Club. Handy Boat in Casco Bay is also a great place to keep a boat, and their expert staff has been a local leader in boat repair and maintenance for decades.

Schools & Community

Falmouth Public Schools are considered among the best in the state, which is why so many families choose to live here. The elementary, middle and high schools in Falmouth are all located within a half mile of each other making pick-ups and drop-offs very convenient for parents with multiple children.

There are also several great private schools in the area, including Cheverus High School and the Maine Girls Academy, both only minutes away in Portland.
