Wells Culture

Wells Beach is a beautiful, sandy beach that is very popular, especially during the summer. Drakes Beach is also lovely, and more quiet than others in the area.

While it is only open a few weekends in the summer, the Wells Auto Museum is very interesting, especially for car lovers and history buffs. Each Christmas season, the Norton Lights Festival draws crowds from across the region.

Food & Drink

Merriland Farm Cafe is a family owned and operated cafe serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This restaurant is located in a building that is about 250 years old. They also have amazing jams and pies available.

Vanarao's serves spectacular Italian dishes in an upscale environment. Varano's has an excellent wine list with a variety of options to pair with their homemade dishes.

Joshua's is a great place for traditional gourmet American cuisine.

 

Recreation

Wells, ME, is a truly beautiful town and residents and visitors love exploring the natural surroundings. Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge and the Wells Reserve at Laudholm are perfect for a walk with friends and family, or a long jog. These parks are also great for kayaking and canoeing, are the Little River and Meridian River which flow through wells into the Atlantic Ocean.

For golf, play at the exquisite Old Marsh County Club, a semi-private 18 hole course.

Schools & Community

Wells has a well-regarded public school system (Wells-Oqunquit CSD) and offers access to strong sports teams and extra-curricular activities.
