Orono Culture

The Collins Center for the Arts at the University of Maine is the “cultural centerpiece of eastern and northern Maine.” For over 30 years, the Collins Center for the Arts in Orono has provided audiences with captivating performances from a wide range of cultures and practices.

The Hudson Museum has several excellent exhibits that chronicle Maine’s storied history, specifically pertaining to the area’s rich Native American culture.

The Bear Brew Pub is a fun, family-friendly restaurant perfect for people of all ages. This local favorite has an excellent collection of local and imported beers on tap and a reasonably priced menu. There is also a dance floor for the late night crowd.

Recreation

Residents of Orono remain active year-round. Popular activities include playing golf at Penobscot Valley Country Club, boating on the Stillwater River and Penobscot River, and cross-country skiing in the winter.
